After being postponed from the usual yearly March edition, the Jonathan Art Foundation’s Gala and Auction will return in October with a flurry of activity and will redouble our fundraising efforts for the year. There’s the return of our highly anticipated online auction, which will run from October 13-26th, the Gala will take place on Saturday October 25th, alongside a plethora of exclusive events. These include the Beach Club auction preview, which provides attendees with an advanced opportunity to purchase a range of exceptional artworks, while several artists will take part in a plein air “Paint Out” from September 29-October 3rd. Congregating at the Beach Club, the painters will complete realistic paintings from the beautiful surroundings at the Club.

Then there’s all the excitement, fine dining, and erudite sophistication of our annual Gala. In a departure from the usual plein air focus, the Art Foundation is thrilled to announce we will feature acclaimed local street artist Man One. Featuring a rich display of his irreverent art, he will also give the keynote talk on the difference between street art and graffiti. LA is renowned for its vibrant and diverse street art scene, with murals and graffiti art found throughout the city. The city’s street art culture is deeply connected to its history, social and political activism, and the diverse communities that call it home. While some see it as a form of vandalism, others view it as a powerful form of public art that reflects the city’s identity and engages with social issues.

These vital fundraising efforts will be applied towards some very ambitious goals in 2026: we hope to publish a new edition of our art book to highlight 14 years of acquisitions, improve the presentation of the existing art, and continue to acquire the best examples of plein air art. We can’t wait to welcome you in October to celebrate the Foundation and its continuing efforts to preserve, manage, share and expand our beloved art collections. As always, if you would like a private docent tour of our esteemed collections, a member of the JAF Board of Directors would be happy to provide one. Please reach out to us to book a time.
